Hooi Kee Wan Tan Mee @ Kopitiam Yuen Kee, Bentong

A visit to Bentong wouldn’t be complete without tasting the famous Wan Tan Mee at Kopitiam Yuen Kee. Located at Jalan Chui Yin, scores of people were already seated (with some patiently waiting for an empty table) on any weekends. Apparently, the wan tan mee is very popular among the locals and visitors from out of town. Each serving with wan tan and char siew costs RM 4.00. Portion wise, the noodles came in a small bowl but if you plan to go around Bentong for a food trip, you wouldn’t want to eat too much either.

The noodles tasted pretty good with springy texture. I wouldn’t say that this is the best wan tan mee I have tried but for a town like this, it is undoubtedly a good choice for breakfast. The slices of Char Siew (barbecued pork) came with the red food colouring on the outer texture; something which I don’t quite fancy since the roasted charred version is the better variant.  The wantan were pretty normal too. Don’t expect huge fillings with shrimp and meat but they are serviceable here.

If you happened to be at Bentong, do drop by this place. I heard that the wan tan mee stall closes at 11 a.m. since business is brisk so be there early if you wish to have a taste of the famous Bentong Wan Tan Mee.
