Food Trip #5: James Cendol @ Sitiawan

Right after eating the famous freshly baked Cheong Cia Gong Pian, I was craving for an icy cool dessert. Luckily for me, I managed to find James Cendol along Jalan Lumut which reputedly sells the best cendol in Sitiawan. The stall is located right in front of an Indian Temple not far away from The Store hypermarket. The best landmark is of course the temple itself as James Cendol is smack right in front of it.

I was hoping to have a chat with James who is the owner of the stall. However, being an entrepreneur, he has expanded his Cendol business in Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur and thus, leaving his wife to manage his original stall at Sitiawan. Still, she is a very friendly lady and didn’t mind as I kept taking photos of her preparing the lovely dessert. She also told me that James has been in the business for more than 30 years.

And how does the famous James Cendol fares? Pretty good I must say. In fact, at RM 2.00 per bowl, James Cendol came with the right amount of sweetness and rich aromatic santan (coconut milk)  flavour.

The individual strands of green jelly were thick while the red beans were bigger in size too. Overall, it was a thumb up for me. If it wasn’t for the large quantities of food I had during this food trip, I would definitely order another bowl. Suffice to say, this is one of the better Cendol I had so far.

James Cendol also serves Pulut Cendol (Glutinous Rice) but I always prefer my Cendol to be orginal.

So there you go…. Five different food in a single day food trip. From Kuala Lumpur all the way to Bidor, Teluk Intan and finally Sitiawan, I must say, this is one of the most memorable experience so far. The adventure did not stop here as I woke up the next day to search for the famous dried noodle at Kampung Koh.
